Drummondville will be
hosting the North American Police and Fire Games
Drummondville surpasses the city of Laval and will be hosting the North American Police and Fire Games for the 2016, 2018 and 2020 editions.
More than 3500 people, including 2200 athletes coming from Canada and many states of America, will be meeting from July 1st to 10th, 2016. The athletes will be giving all proceeds of the event to two non-profit organisations including the “Fondation des pompiers du Québec pour les grands brûlés”.
“This represents almost 5000 people in our city for 10 days participating in the competitions, and there will also be accompaniers as well as coaches. This is a lot of people and is very important for the development of our tourism. This also is great news for our citizens who will be allowed to attend the competitions for free” underlines the mayor of Drummondville, Alexandre Cusson.
It is no coincidence that the city of Drummondville has been chosen according to the organizers. “The quality of the sports installations and its hosting capacity make us believe that Drummondville is able to host the Fames. Additionally, the vitality of the population and the fact that in 2015, Drummondville will present the Quebec Games, demonstrates that the city is capable of holding such Games” says one of the organizers, Marc Desmarais.
Competitions will be held within 24 disciplines such as basketball, badminton and swimming.
